The latest information on the federal declared national emergency & your money!
The IRS is delaying all federal tax filing & payment requirements until July 19, 2020
The Illinois Department of Revenue is suspending all tax filing & payment requirements until July 15, 2020 www2.illinois.gov/rev/research/publications/bulletins/Documents/2020/FY2020-24.pdf; in addition, they are delaying all license renewal requirements until then, as well (90 days).
Federal stimulus checks will pay each taxpayer $1,200 & $500 for each child; however, you must have filed your 2018 or 2019 tax return to receive this benefit. In addition, if you don't have direct deposit on file, your check could take up to 5 - 6 months to be received by post mail.
The U.S. Department of Education will forebear any federal student loan for 60 days with no additional penalties & interest accrued. Note: You must be proactive & call your loan provider & request this..., it is not automatic. Go to www.ed.gov/ for more info. & the latest updates
The City of Chicago is suspending all collection activity for tickets, boot enforcement, drivers license suspension, & utility bill payment with all associated penalties & interest until April 30, 2020. For more info. go to www.chicago.gov/city/en.html
If your employment/income was effected, or you believe it will be affected because of the Coronavirus (covid-19) in an adverse way then go to your local state unemployment office for benefit info. www.2illinois.gov/ides/pages/default.aspx
If your nutrition is suffering due to the Coronavirus (covid-19) or other financial factors then go to your local, state family & human services branch to apply for their supplemental nutrition assistance program (Ex. SNAP) www.ABE.illinois.gov
