DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested on July 13, 2017, on federal tax fraud charges. Prosecutors said he owed $1.7 million in taxes and engaged in a multiyear scheme to conceal millions of dollars of income from the Internal Revenue Service.

Wesley Snipes failed to file his tax returns from 1994 - 2000 that generated a tax debt of $2.7 million that was owed to the IRS. He served two years in a Pennsylvania prison.

Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty to tax evasion for failure to file tax returns on her 2005, 2006, & 2007 earnings, which amounted to $1.8 million tax bill. She served three months in prison, & as of 2016 she was still paying off her back taxes.

Fat Joe pleaded guilty to tax evasion with a $1 million tax bill due for 2007 & 2008 taxes. He served most of a 4 month sentence & paid a $15,000 fine. In addition, he lived under supervision the following year.

Chris Tucker was slapped with a $2.5 million tax lien from the IRS, but he reached a tax debt resolution a week later. His spokesman stated that it resulted from an IRS audit that lasted 4 years which stemmed from poor accounting & business management.
